Beverly is the first name of a famous opera singer who has nothing to do with our Homepage. It is also the name of our small town with a population of about 3,100. Our town has a K-8 elementary school. The students and staff enjoy using computers for entertainment and education, but no, we're not all computer geeks!
Delran is another town [population: about 13,100] just down the highway. Delran has 4 schools K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Both Beverly and Delran are located on the New Jersey side of the Delaware River across from the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A consortium is a school partnership. Our partnership began as a result of Goals 2000 Funding [thanks Mr. Clinton]. With the money, we will be helping our communities [school children, teachers, parents, senior citizens] become more computer literate and more communicative inside and outside our towns.
A Web site is part of an interactive program that sits on a local computer. Our computer is in Delran, New Jersey. When you type in our Internet address [http://www.radiowave.com/delranhs] and access our computer, the opening screen is our Homepage. This is the starting point for a Web site. Our Homepage, along with all of our other pages, has links to other Web sites. Some of the linked pages are created with and stored in Delran's computer but most of the pages are created with and stored in computers found in Universities, Government Agencies, Commercial Industries and private homes. These Web site links are selected by Beverly and Delran teachers, parents and students. They are screened for school-appropriate content that meets the needs of our curriculum and community interests.
Our Homepage was launched on February 10th, 1997, and is updated throughout the school year.
